Sonic in Syndey Soundtrack (SatAM stage show from SegaWorld)

Postby A Knothole Resident on Fri Sep 22, 2006 2:43 am

Considering that SatAM has reached the limelight, I thought id take the liberty to share a rare gem that I was able to procure 7 years ago. In 1996, Sega opened a theme park in Syndey Australia called SegaWorld which was ironically certered around SatAM. Similar to all theme parks, they would provide outdoor entertainment stage shows featuring Sonic characters in a mini adventure. The soundtrack for the show was available on CD, prefable at the nearest gift shop.

Sonic in Syndey is basically a 30 minute show involving Sally, Sonic, Tails, and Robotnik. If you listen to the voice actors, you can tell they took their own creative liberites so it pertained to their aussie audience. Although its bewildering how they switched Sally's voice with Bunnie's ascent, its still interesting. Unfortunatly, the park closed in 1997 where employees sold SatAM merchandise on ebay. Probably due to geographical inconvenience =P Anyway, in 1999 i located an ebay auction that was selling this soundtrack and I recently encoded mp3s from it. So for your listening pleasure, heres the obscure yet campy SatAM Stage show from Segaworld. Enjoy!

I've got a coin from SegaWorld in a box somewhere. If only we knew what we know now.

Thanks for this, the music's not bad and I'm in no way going to put this down being it was ment more so for the kids. I actually like the voice for Sonic, seems a little younger but works pretty good for him. Any idea who does him?

Is it me or did they do a good job picking out Sally's Singing voice.

And this too proves that the characters are Sega-owned, guess Ian will not be killing them in 175 ;)

This is amazing. SegaWorld sounds like the amusement park I always wanted as a kid.

Has anybody got photos from this thing? I'm curious to see just how bad the costumes looked, especially Sally.

OK. We need to do a SatAm Musical. NOW. We can keep the songs from the SEGA in Sydney but extend the musical and put more songs into it.

Watch Out Rent! Theres a new musical out there and its SONIC THE HEDGEHOG.
