SATAM COMING TO DVD IN 2007!

Postby PorpoiseMuffins on Mon Sep 18, 2006 9:10 pm

Quexinos, long time SatAM community member and founder of Fans United for SatAM, announced today that a full 4-disc SatAM box set with special features entitled Sonic the Hedgehog: The Complete Series will be released by Shout! Factory in early 2007, the same team responsible for the recent release of titles such as The Super Mario Brother's Super Show and Legend of Zelda: The Complete Animated Series

    http://www.satamsonic.com/forum2/index. ... c=9112&hl=

Here's the word straight from Quexinos (formerly Sonique):

Yes, you read that correctly. SatAM IS coming to DVD in early 2007. My source?

Well first off, I have a friend who's been in contact with Sega on and off these past few months and... well he said they said so.. ;)
But also today I got an email from a Brian Ward who works at Shout!Factory DVDs. He says he's been put in charge of putting the DVD together. It will be a 4-Disc set entitled Sonic the Hedgehog: The Complete Series. (simple enough)

Unfortunately, I can't give away ... any more information ;_; he's asked me to keep some of the info in the email under wraps but there WILL be some total kick ass bonus features that'll make it worth it. So just hang tight because this is going to be one awesome DVD set... FINALLY =D

    And from the Shout! Employee:

Hey, guys! It gives me great pleasure to finally speak with some of the SatAM fans. You have no idea how long I've waited to do so, since this deal between DiC and Shout! Factory has been in the works for quite some time. But it's official. Shout! Factory will be releasing Sonic the Hedgehog: The Complete Series in early 2007. Unfortunately, I can't tell you just how early, since that's not exactly my job.

What I can say is this... Because I'm Shout! Factory's residing 80s-90s geek, I have the great privilege of producing this set. If you're interested in knowing what kinds of bonus features I've been able to put together for previous DiC sets, feel free to check out COPS: The Animated Series, The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! Volumes 1 & 2, Inspector Gadget: The Original Series, Where On Earth Is Carmen Sandiego?, and the upcoming Sabrina the Animated Series.

You'll notice there are a lot of art-related bonus features on these sets. Frankly, that's for two reasons. First of all, as a producer and director myself, I'm always fascinated by the way things are put together, so I usually like to show you everything from early concept art to animated storyboards and the like. The second reason is that this artwork is often the only kind of bonus material available from DiC. There was a time when they didn't have this stuff in their archives, especially for some of the older shows, and the boxes have been pilfered. Often, this is what survives the years.

For Sonic the Hedgehog, however, I'd like put some special bonus features onto the set. These are currently pending, so only time will tell.

I just want to let everyone know that I'll be stopping in, most likely daily, to get feedback, ideas, concerns, etc. from you guys. I'm a fanboy, too, and I know what it's like to have something you love being handled by someone who couldn't care less. I want to ease those concerns here and now. I'll do everything in my power to create a set you'd all be proud to own.

That said, there are times when certain things are out of my control and I want you all to understand that. Unfortunately, there are times when you say, "I think it'd be great to have [insert bonus feature here]! Make sure that's on the set!" And then, I go looking to put that stuff on and I can't. It's not that I didn't try. It's simply that, for one reason or another, I couldn't get permission.

So chat away. You have my ears (or eyes, as the case may be).

    Thanks!

    Brian Ward

So there you have it. After many years of anticipation, petition, and patient (err... not really) waiting, SatAM is coming to DVD! With Brian from Shout! at the helm and communicating with the fans, things couldn't have come together any better. We can rest knowing our beloved show is in capable hands.

I knew that we'd get our wish some day... I just didn't expect it would be this soon! This release has the potential to really revitalize the series and its fanbase.

For the record, it just so happens that this news has arrived on the 13th anniversary of SatAM's original US airing on ABC! Who says 13 is unlucky?

Honestly, I'm just happy it's simply happening! :D

You know, with everything I talked about in my post about 2 weeks ago, I was just laying my heart and mind on the table, and just reaffirming my SatAM loving nature. I had no idea that there'd be anything major that would be announced on the SatAM's future. I am so glad I never lost hope in it at all! :D

I am intensly happy beyond belief that this show, DiC Entertainment's greatest animated offering ever, will rise again, in full series form, to DVD! I am counting the days until it hits the street, and I will, somehow, get my hands on a Boxset for myself!

And, even beyond the release of the DVD Boxset, I will continue to support the SatAM, straight up! I WON'T EVER stop loving everything the SatAM showed me!

And, yeah, I am Jacked up and pumped for the release date!

    IT'S THE FINAL COUNTDOWN! :D

WOW, I am actually crying tears of joy, just knowing that my favorite show is coming out on DVD. It looks like it may even get its well deserved 3rd season. All I can say is that I had never doubted that the show would never get to see the light of day again. I can't believe that our voices were actually heard. I guess my striving for the show and attempting my CN plan may be heard of after all. :) But mostly the huge community that supported the show.
Thank you Shout! for hearing our pleas.

    Way Past Cool!!!

Postby Kahunalilly on Tue Sep 19, 2006 12:28 am

Wow, I never thought I'd see the day this show would be available on legit DVDs!!! I'm psyched!!! A BIG thanks to Shout!Factory DVDs, DiC, Brian Ward, Quexinos, and PorpoiseMuffins for the message!!!!

So Brian, if you're checking this page out for feedback, please put any and all bonus material available on the dvds!!! Lol okay for real, if it would be possible to include music tracks of the musical score and songs that were used in the show, that would be really awesome. I don't know if it would be possible to play MP3s on a computer straight from the dvd, but yeah, including the music in some form would be a good thing to look into.

Also, if there is ANY video of ANY of the voice actors doing their work for the show, especially Jaleel White, Kathy Soucie or Jim Cummings, wow that would be incredible. Acutally just bios of the voice actors would be cool, because most of them are very accomplished vocal actors, and they were all so amazing for the show.

Anyway, at least do what you can, Brian. I'm sure I'm speaking for all of us SatAM fans when I say that we could not be anymore grateful for what you're doing! Keep up the great work, and thank you so much!!!

dude is that Knuckles doing Gear Second? XD

your art is good, but no offence, J Axer is... well let me put it this way. Remembr when Archie said they were bringing in two new artists to the comic and they were fan artists who'd tried out and stuff? I've yet to met one person who was surprised that J Axer was one of those people. Everyone was like "Oh yeah I knew it'd be him"

    there's his stuff
I'd love to see box art by him.
    but there might be more places for you and others to do art too.. god i want everyone to do it ;_;

    Yeah Knuckles doing Gear Second!

Hey, its cool, I just started out on all this anyway, but I understand. It'll get better over time. Count on it. Besides, he has more experience than I do, and well, he's in a completely different league. But hey, we all start off somewhere.
Anyway thanks for the link. His work looks really tight.

J Axer doing the art would be fantastic. It might also get the DVDs a bit more recognation to non-fans.
